Rehna Hai Teri Palkon Ki Chhaon Mein is an Indian soap opera that aired on NDTV Imagine in India between 2009 and 2010. It is a story of an orphan girl, Suman, who wants to be part of a joint family and soon gets a chance.

Story of an orphan girl, whose dreams of finding family and love come true when she gets a chance to be a part of an extremely lovable and traditional joint family.
Suman's lives in a girls hostel with her best friend Kanchan who hails from a rich traditional and loving family. Kanchan's mother (Kadam Bari) meets Suman and decides that she will be her future daughter-in-law. Suman meets her son Karan and they take a sudden liking for each other. Suman is shocked by the fact that she was chosen for Karthik, Karan's elder brother. Suman gets into a dilemma where she has to choose between love and betraying a loving family who treated her as their own daughter.
With many difficulties, including Karan and Karthik's aunt trying to sabotage the wedding, Karan and Suman get married. The grandfather of the house originally has doubts, but Suman saves him from a cobra, getting bit herself. At the hospital the family realize that they all love Suman, except from the aunt, and make her their daughter-in-law. On their way to honeymoon, the brakes stop working on their car and as Karan shoves Suman out of the car, trying to save her. The car with him in it dives into a waterfall and Karan is presumed dead.
After that the whole family begins to hate Suman, except Karthik and his new fiancée, Nandini. The aunt (Vidya) is still trying to make Suman's life hell and puts make-up on her when she is sleeping. As it is forbidden for a vidwah (widdow) to wear make-up, when the family see Suman, they hate her even more. Nandini is turned against Suman when the aunt tells her that Suman wants Karthik for herself. Suman then tries to hang hereself. Karthik saves her and tells the family that they have pushed Suman to this. She then leaves the house with Karan and Karthik's uncle (who thinks of her as a daughter) to stay with at widow friend's house. He has two children who think of Suman like their mother. He finds her a job at the primary school which coincidentally is the same one that one of Karthik's nephews goes to, so she stays in contact with him.
On Nandini and Karthik's wedding day, Karthik does not make it in time as he is saving Suman from being attacked. The family hate Suman more and more, including Nandini and Karthik's mother. Suman and Karthik then have an affair. She calls it off before his wedding day, and he gets married before she realizes that she still loves him.
After Karthik and Suman's wedding, they know that Karan is alive. At that time Suman loved Karthik so she chose him; Karan accept it but felt angry.
Rehna Hai Teri Palkon Ki Chhaon Mein got replaced by Sanjog Se Bani Sangini in September 2010.
